In dust and empathy Songtext / Lyric

A sole body emerges from the rubble, only a silhouette of humanity. This solitary being appears startled, like a newborn baby, disoriented, amazed. As the memories of the past flood back, fear overwhelms and cripples the life and wonder. The figure falls to its knees sobbing, almost violently. This pains to watch, hurting to the point where the sadness becomes my own. I ache and writhe in this empathic despair, I feel the loss, I become their memory and then, silence. The figure now paralysed by calm, so captivated yet so lost. I walk forward to discover an elderly man covered in dust. Staring at the ground, I can?t make out yet as to why, it appears to be something written in chalk. I notice he is now smiling, somewhat elated, he then became aware that I was standing over him. I was in wonder. Stunned at the happiness now in this man?s eyes. He said to me, "See? We?re ok, we will be fine! See?"

"We will! See?"

I look to the ground and read the chalk scrawl at my feet, "THIS IS OUR SECOND CHANCE!"
