Roxanne De Bastion - Somewhere Upon Avon Songtext
Somewhere upon Avon Songtext
Prospero broke his staffin two
This town’s asleep, I feel it, and so do you
and all the children that were born and raised here
speak only when spoken to But it’s my home, I was born here
I was taught that the universe ends outside the city walls and oh, we used to play here
we tried to escape from here,
but then we turned five and were put in to uniforms Cardigans and ties don’t suit me well
They’ve made my voice soft and my face pale
I know now better than to state my opinion
The scars on my knuckles tell the tale...
But it’smy home, was born here
I was taught that the universe ends outside the city walls
and oh, we used to play here
we tried to escape from here,
but then we turned five and were stuck in a uniform
Sometimes I dream to leave the sleeping place
To seek a change
of day and a different sky
But let’s not go there, don’t you make me tell you
That Prospero was trapped and so am I
And it’s my home and I belong here
although I know that the universe don’t end outside these fucking city walls
and oh, my children will play here
they’ll try to escape from here, but then they’ll turn five and I will buy them there uniform
