Kagrra - Kotodama Songtext (Übersetzung)
in this dark night that even the gods would sleep [I] hold [my] desires and approach alone
clothed in a white robe the only thought is to face destruction
under these dark clouds1 in the middle of the night piercing through this blinding light
grasping this curse with these red hands shall I gorge your heart...
destiny is now transcending time as the seemingly whirling thoughts are thrust against the scorching blaze
this unrequited love is clouded by sighs these flowing tears transform into blood
the white robe has been stained deep red this life is once again scattered in transiency2
close your eyes at least in this instance whilst you await your last moments
forget everything just for a little while hold me in your heart
destiny is now transcending time these overflowing thoughts pour endlessly
as [your] soul is not vanished I want to try to be loved by you in my next life

NOTES
dark clouds1 ( ?? an'un): a particular figurative meaning is 'ominous'
this life is once again scattered in transiency2: I've tried to do a literal translation on this one. Basically, it just means 'this life is lost once again' ^^;;
This is the first song they released on DT after changing their name to Kagrra. It speaks particularly strongly of the notion of death. Unrequited love. ...and ultimately, these all lead to their central theme of 'nothingness' (as was one of their only themes when they first started out). The persona in this song assumes a female identity, presumeably one who lived in historic times.
I am very sorry to say that I am unable to come up with a concise explanation to 'kotodama'! >_< To begin this ambiguous explanation, the most commonly used (or you may say 'original') kanji is actually ?? so there has been a word play by Isshi once again. One particular Japanese-English dictionary conveniently translated ?? (kotodama) to be 'soul or power of language'. A more detailed explanation turned out to be... 'People in the ancient times believed in a miraculous power/soul that dwelled in languages. They believed that it was because of such power that language was created.' So what does ??? (kotodama) really mean? To break this up, ? means love or passion, ? means binding whilst ? means soul or spirit. The soul of binding love ! Just like the soul which binds words together in a language... In this song, the title refers to the soul which binds love (between two parties or something of the like). Do you like this explanation? ^^; Please tell me if you find this outrageously wrong!
