James Joyce [ˌdʒeɪmz ˈdʒɔɪs], vollständig James Augustine Aloysius Joyce (* 2. Februar 1882 in Rathgar, Dublin, Vereinigtes Königreich Großbritannien und Irland; † 13. Januar 1941 in Zürich) war ein irischer Schriftsteller. Besonders seine wegweisenden Werke Dubliner, Ulysses und Finnegans Wake verhalfen ihm zu großer Bekanntheit. Er gilt als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter der literarischen Moderne. James Joyce lebte vorwiegend in Dublin, Triest, Paris und Zürich.
