I have an eager and happy memory
of that loving “majo” who was my glory.
He adored me vehemently and faithfully,
I gave my whole life to him.
And a thousand more I would give if he wanted,
for in deep love torments are flowers.
And on remembering my beloved “majo”
visions of past times
reappear.
Neither in El Mentidero nor in La Florida
did a more handsome “majo” ever walk.
From under my broad-brimmed hat I saw his
eyes with all his heart and soul fixed on me.
Whoever they looked at they inspired love,
for no deeper gaze can be found in the world.
